You can keep extra charges to a minimum by simply banking smarter. Follow these tips to reduce or avoid bank fees and charges.
Sometimes simply crossing the street can save you some money. Be sure to use a BankSA ATM when possible as they cost less than conducting transactions on a non-BankSA ATM. Find your nearest BankSA ATM here. Or use our ATM Locator via SMS. Simply SMS your suburb and state to 199 44 ATM (199 44 286) and we’ll reply with the address of local ATMs. Cost for SMS is $0.40 billed by your mobile phone carrier.
Internet and Phone Banking lets you easily monitor and manage your accounts and perform transactions that might cost you more inside a branch. Get the convenience of banking 24/7* without leaving your home or office. Pay a bill via BPAY®, transfer to an account in Australia or overseas, schedule payments in advance and much more. On accounts with a set number of free transactions, these transactions are free but will be counted towards your other monthly fee free transactions. Excess withdrawal fees may apply to Internet and Phone Banking transactions on some accounts.
SMS and Email Alerts are an efficient way for you to receive updates on your accounts, providing more control over your finances and a greater sense of security.
Choose from a number of SMS or Email Alert types:
Register for SMS and Email Alerts via Internet Banking or over the phone. Email Alerts are free and SMS Alerts are charged at $0.25 per SMS. Customers with a Complete Freedom Account receive 10 free SMS Alerts per month.
Keep on top of your bills and make payments on time by utilising the Scheduled Payments function for BPAY® and payee transfers within Internet Banking. You can even set up an Email Alert to let you know when your transaction has been successfully processed. These transactions are quick and easy to set up - just log on to Internet Banking and follow the prompts, or call the Internet Banking Help Desk on 1300 555 203. Unlike Periodic Payments, scheduled payments cannot overdraw your account so there’s no risk of incurring a dishonour or honour fee.
If you have your statement issued more than once a month, you will be charged with a Frequent Statement fee. Think about changing the frequency, by requesting monthly, quarterly or six monthly statements. If you find you need more frequent transaction information you can get this via Internet or Phone Banking 24-hours* a day, 7 days a week.
