Your EFTPOS terminal upgrade - accepting EMV chip cards

BankSA is upgrading all EFTPOS terminals to accept EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) chip cards. This means that, when people give you a card that contains a chip, you need to insert it into your terminal's chip reader rather than swipe it.

Why are we doing this?

Most credit cards now have a chip in them for a number of reasons. Importantly, the chip makes the card difficult to reproduce or copy as it contains encrypted information. Once your terminal can accept chip cards, your exposure to potential card fraud will be greatly reduced, as will the likelihood of chargebacks.

I haven't received a user guide for the new terminal

The information you need is all included below and can be printed for your reference.

I need to apply for MOTO facilities

If you require Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) facilities on your EMV terminal, please print and complete the form below. You then need to either fax it to us on (08) 8424 4851 or return it to us in the reply paid envelope you received in your recent EMV upgrade pack.
