Why is my card changing?

To enable us to bring you more features over time, we’re simplifying our credit card offering to ensure we continue to meet your needs now and into the future. The move to a BankSA No Annual Fee Visa card is part of a transition to Visa that’s happening for our credit card customers.

What do I do next?

1. Wait to receive your card
Keep using your current card until your replacement Visa card arrives². Please check that your mailing address is up to date on your Internet Banking, so your Visa card arrives at the right place.
2. Activate your Visa card
You can do this via Internet Banking or by calling 1300 307 080.
3. Update your regular payments

What is changing?

What's staying the same?

  • You’ll keep the same PIN.
  • Your Internet Banking details won't change. If you use your credit card number as your login ID, this will update automatically when you activate your Visa card.
  • You’ll enjoy the same great features and benefits of being a BankSA credit card customer.
  • If you've set up an Automatic Payment Plan to repay your card account, this will be transferred to your Visa card.



What's going to change?

  • Your current Mastercard® will be replaced with a Visa card that has a different card number, expiry date and CVV number. 2
  • You’ll need to update your card details for any recurring payments you make using your card (such as subscriptions and bills) and in any digital wallets like Google Pay™ and Samsung Pay™.
  • To ensure you don’t miss a repayment, update any credit card repayment details or reminders you have scheduled or stored. 
  • The changes will take effect once you activate your replacement BankSA No Annual Fee Visa card (or if you have a joint account, once any primary cardholder does so).



Will I need to switch my regular payments?

Yes, because your replacement card will have a different card number, expiry date and CVV number. To update your regular payments, simply contact your service provider and provide your replacement card details.

Regular payments are payments taken directly from your credit card account by a third party on a periodic basis. To make sure these are not interrupted,  you will need to update your card details. Consider any payments you’ve set up on your card, like insurances, utilities, your phone bill or subscriptions and streaming services or other direct debits and bills. Plus card details in digital wallets like Google Pay™ and Samsung Pay™.

 Interest free on purchases when you pay the Closing Balance (or the Monthly Payment Balance with a balance transfer) on time.
An extra card
For an additional cardholder aged 16 or over at no extra cost, provided the account isn't a joint account. Additional card transactions are the responsibility of the primary account holder.

Our Fraud Money Back Guarantee means we’ll refund you 100% of any money taken from your account if you’re a victim of fraud provided you let us know right away.3

Why is this change happening?

We're simplifying our credit card offering to ensure we continue to meet your needs now and into the future. The move to a BankSA No Annual Fee Visa card is part of a transition from Mastercard to Visa card that is happening for BankSA Mastercard customers. This means we can bring you new features including Apple Pay.1

When will this change happen?

You should receive a notification informing you of the change via email or mail. These changes will take effect once you activate your replacement BankSA No Annual Fee Visa Visa card.

For joint account holders, these changes will take effect once either of the primary card holders activates their replacement No Annual Fee Visa card.

Will my card number change?

Yes. As a result of this change you will get a new card number, with expiry date and CVV on the back of your card.

Will my statements change?

While your statement date won't change, your statements will be issued as No Annual Fee Visa when you activate your replacement Visa card. Your new statements will be issued with a different account number, and you'll need to update your recurring payments and your BPAY® payment details will change.

There may be circumstances where we will be unable to send you the Visa card referred to in this message, including in some circumstances where you ask us to replace your credit card (or have done so recently), for example, if you report your Mastercard as lost or stolen. If this occurs, we may instead send you a replacement Mastercard, and the changes referred to in this communication will not take effect unless we notify you otherwise.

3. Our BankSA Fraud Money Back Guarantee ensures that customers will be reimbursed for any unauthorised transactions provided that the customer has not contributed to the loss and contacted BankSA promptly. Refer to the Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF 1MB) for full details, including when a customer will be liable.
