The Show must go on - BankSA encourages South Aussies to create their own Show day and back SA

Friday, 3 September 2021

While the Royal Adelaide Show won’t go on this year, Presenting Partner, BankSA, says there are many ways that families can still experience all the fun and continue to back SA businesses.

BankSA State General Manager Business Banking, David Firth, encouraged South Australians to make the most of Show Week and create their own unique memories this year.

“With many students still getting a Show day off school, families can keep the spirit of the Show alive and continue to ‘back SA’ during a time when businesses need the extra support,” said Mr Firth.

“The Royal Show is one of South Australia’s most loved events, attracting on average half a million attendees from across the state each year – but rather than dwelling on our disappointment, it’s a great way to reinvent the experience into a new opportunity, as we’ve done so many times during COVID.

“In our 26th year of supporting the Royal Adelaide Show, we want to help South Australians plan a day of affordable and fun attractions to entertain the whole family.”

Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA Chief Executive John Rothwell said: “Even though the Show has unfortunately been cancelled for the second year, South Australians can still get behind the state, while also celebrating some aspects of the event at www.theshow.com.au.”

If you’re missing the BankSA Animal Nursery, visit the Hahndorf Farm Barn, Adelaide Zoo or Gorge Wildlife Park. Or for a walk on the wild side, visit Morialta Conservation Park or Belair National Park where you can spot kangaroos, koalas and the occasional echidna.

If side shows are your thing, the Adelaide Family Carnival is operating in Edwards Park on Anzac Hwy over the next couple of weekends with free entry.

Adelaide also has lots of amazing playgrounds to entertain the kids. A few favourites are the St Kilda Playground, Morialta Conservation Park’s Mukanthi playspace and Belair National Park’s adventure playground.

If you’re up for a challenge, why not create your own ‘Back SA showbag’. Pick your theme and go shopping for South Australian locally grown and made products. Or you can buy a ready-made option, visit the Royal Adelaide Show online: https://www.theshow.com.au/2021-showbags/

Finally, for fresh produce and decadent show treats, visit the Adelaide Central Markets, Adelaide Farmers Market or Urrbrae Barn Market. But most of all, enjoy your Show day off and visit a place you’ve never been, whilst backing a SA business at the same time.
