BUDGET-FRIENDLY ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW

Thursday, 7 August 2014

BankSA’s partnership with the Royal Adelaide Show will help South Australian families stretch their Show budgets further this year.

BankSA, one of South Australia’s most enduring icons, continues to support this much-loved annual event, which kicks off on September 5.

“We are delighted to continue our association with this wonderful family event which also celebrates the important economic and social contribution made by the rural sector and its communities,” said BankSA Chief Executive Nick Reade.

“At the same time, we know that families love to get together for a day at the Show, so we’re also pleased to continue our long-standing support of some traditional Show favourites again this year.”

BankSA has been a proud Show partner since 1996 and is behind a range of low or no-cost family-oriented activities, including the always popular BankSA Farmyard Nursery, BankSA Farm Walk, BankSA Chill Zone and BankSA Kids Carnival.

Tickets went on sale on August 4 and families should check out the Family Value Pack ticket option, which includes BankSA discounted ride tickets, Show entry for four, food and drinks, and parking as part of the discounted package.

The Show wouldn’t be the Show without one of the best loved traditions, the BankSA Farmyard Nursery. The nursery appeals to all ages with loads of traditional farm animals on display. Children can admire cute baby animals including rabbits, chicks and guinea pigs, and they can also pet miniature Shetlands, goats, lambs and a range of Australian native animals.

The nursery is free of charge and features displays and interactive activities. A photographer will be located in the area taking photos of kids and animals, and BankSA will also have a story-teller on hand as added entertainment.

Other BankSA-supported Show highlights include:

The BankSA Farm Walk - an educational trail for children to follow in and around the agricultural precinct. Starting at the Alpaca and Goat Pavilion, kids will receive a BankSA Farm Walk bag and passport to collect stamps and goodies along the way. Follow the footsteps on the map to visit the Learning Centre, Golden Grains, BankSA Farmyard Nursery, Vintage Machinery, PURA Milking Barn, Pig Pavilion and Sheep Pavilion. There's even a little surprise and reward for everyone who collects all five passport stamps.

The BankSA Kids’ Carnival and the BankSA Chill Out Zone - set to be popular and welcome destinations for young Show visitors and their families. The carnival rides and amusements in this area are all family friendly and especially cater especially to the little ones. Within this precinct, BankSA is offering a fabulous ‘chill out zone’ for families with seating and shade – an ideal place for some needed respite from all the fun.

Throughout the Show make sure you look out for the BankSA Grand Parades (Saturday 6th at 3pm, Sunday 7th at 6.15pm, Tuesday 9th at 12 noon and Wednesday 10th at 3pm). The Grand Parades, held in the main arena, are always a highlight and showcase agricultural displays and prize-winning animals.

The Adelaide Showground is vast and with all the happy crowds visiting the Show, it can be easy to lose your way – especially for children. BankSA is again teaming up with the SA Police to make sure children’s security is paramount. BankSA ‘Lost Person’ wristbands will be available at all information booths, the BankSA Farmyard Nursery, Royal Show office and Royal Show Police Station.

And make sure to look out for Digger the Wombat, the BankSA mascot, as well as the BankSA Brigade, who will be out and about throughout the show with giveaways and spreading some show cheer.
