Ben Owen joined the BankSA Leadership Team in the role of Head of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Business Banking in May 2017. He was subsequently appointed Acting General Manager Retail Banking in April 2017. Ben is responsible for South Australia’s largest branch network, in addition to BankSA’s home lending function.
Prior to joining BankSA, Ben spent over a decade at ANZ where he held leadership roles in customer relationship management, frontline product distribution, strategic risk initiatives, credit risk policy, project management, governance and strategy. Ben has a successful track record in implementing process improvements and change programs across consumer and business banking divisions.
Ben is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA). He holds a Masters of Business Administration from Deakin Business School, a Graduate Diploma of Management and Graduate Certificate of Corporate Management. Ben also has a Bachelor of Business (majoring in International Business) and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in International Studies) from the University of South Australia. He has studied at Nanyang Technology University in Singapore, where he undertook studies in International Economics, Asian Politics, Finance and Entrepreneurship.
