Ben Owen joined the BankSA Leadership Team in the role of Head of Small and Medium Enterprise Business Banking in May 2017. He was subsequently appointed General Manager Retail Banking in June 2018. Ben is responsible for South Australia’s largest branch network and leading BankSA’s Retail Banking teams across South Australia and Northern Territory.
Prior to joining BankSA, Ben spent over a decade at ANZ where he held leadership roles in customer relationship management, frontline product distribution, strategic risk initiatives, credit risk policy, project management, governance, and strategy. Ben has a successful track record in implementing process improvements and change programs across consumer and business banking divisions.
Ben is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He holds a Master of Business Administration, a Graduate Diploma of Management and Graduate Certificate of Corporate Management from Deakin Business School. In addition, Ben has a Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Australia. He has studied internationally on scholarship at Nanyang Technology University in Singapore, where he undertook studies in International Economics, Asian Politics, Finance and Entrepreneurship. He has also completed Design Thinking for Innovation at the University of Virginia through the Darden School of Business.
